The film tells the story of Kemal, a resident of a Nogai village in Dagestan, who decided to revive his people's almost forgotten traditional sport, Avdarys, a form of horseback wrestling. Despite the doubts of those around him and a lack of resources, Kemal finds like-minded people and organizes competitions that mark the beginning of a new stage in the revival of Nogai traditions.
