Local residents revere Lake Baikal to be a sacred sea, but tragic incidents and mysterious disappearances have given rise to legends. The year 2025 saw more than 15 cars that sank through the ice, and these regrettable figures are on the rise. Humans strive to conquer nature, but Lake Baikal fiercely protects its realm, warning and sometimes punishing those who are careless.
We get a chance to look at Lake Baikal from a different perspective, through the lens of the stories told by local residents and the author’s personal story, who lost his father in the waters of Lake Baikal, and through observing Emergency Ministry rescuers and immersing with divers.
The film aims to show the unpredictable elemental power of the Lake for people will treat it with greater respect.
